Residence Inn by Marriott Columbia Northeast/Fort Jackson Area

Bad one night stay all around. I got to the hotel exhausted from a day of driving. I was given a room quickly and I loaded my 2 bags, suits, laptop case and cooler onto a luggage cart. I pushed it a few feet and it collapsed sending my stuff all over the floor. Apparently the staff knew about the bad wheel on this cart and left it in use anyways. Once I got to the room and unpacked I needed to catch up on emails and online work. No wifi. I complained and they said a ticket was in. No wifi the entire stay. Unacceptable. I tried to get to bed early because I was resuming my trip early the next day. I was on a ground floor and the room overhead was loud. I could hear everything: walking, flushing the toilet etc. The room opposite me had a family with a screaming kid that screamed for all hour

Our stay at the Residence Inn was nothing short of wonderful! Everything about our stay from the. Moment we walked up to the desk clerk. to opening the door to our luxurious suite was nothing short of amazing. Lolita in particular helped us to navigate finding a restaurant, even putting the address in my phone. Super nice. Our room had every amenity possible and was super clean. When we came down for breakfast everyone including the chef greeted us and wished us a Happy New Year. Pam, Jean and Wanda as well as a staff worker in the dining room were so hospitable. Breakfast was delicious with an amazing array of hot and cold entrees to choose from. Cannot say enough about this hotel, quite possibly the nicest experience we have ever had traveling South

So I’ve been a member with Marriott for 10 years & I usually stay at this hotel every time I go Columbia because it’s close to my mom’s house. I’ve been coming to this hotel for years, but now I think my time is up here. This is the second time back to back that I’ve come back to this hotel and experienced terrible housekeeping services. I’m not sure if they changed the house keepers or what but the rooms are NOT properly cleaned at all. The first room I was in the bathroom area was not clean, hairs on the floor, clothes left in the dresser and the floor not mopped. The second room I was in was dirty all around the bed area and extremely dusty with no shower curtain in the bathroom, no extra linens for the pullout couch or wash cloths and towels. We stayed at this hotel for four nights. We were advised prior to our stay that the hotel was undergoing renovations. The second and third floors had been refinished oh, but the first floor which we stayed on had not been updated. The countertops in the kitchenette seem sticky, as did the carpet in the living room areas. I used my own Clorox wipes to wipe everything down myself. Overall, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great with fantastic water pressure, and the breakfast served each morning was delicious. The ladies serving it were nice and pleasant each morning. We had to extend our stay one night and I was a bit perturbed that they wouldn't honor the rate that I paid for the previous three nights. Our quick overnight stay after a long day one of travel was WONDERFUL! Front desk staff were great. Our room was well laid out… we had the king size bed room with a living room and kitchen… great space! Breakfast was decent when it comes to “free” ones. Highly recommend this hotel!
