Red Roof PLUS+ Philadelphia Airport

I’ve stayed at red roof inns many times when traveling on a budget. I don’t expect luxury, but I don’t know. I guess the “plus” in the name gave me higher expectations. I thought maybe we would have a microwave or mini fridge, maybe some outlets by the bed. The room was basic— I think the plus indicates that there has been a renovation within the last decade. The room did look like it had been painted relatively recently. The important spaces in the room seemed clean, but there were many nooks and crannies that haven’t been cleaned in a hot minute. For example, the door frames could use a dusting and there were some cobwebs in the corners. There was a small hole in the wall by the shower. We did not see any mice but that could be a possibility? Positive: The price was good, but everything else about it was pretty awful. Negative: The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and bleach, there was hair in the bed, there was hair in the shower and the room was overall quite unclean.

I booked 3 rooms for three adults for an overnight stay on a business trip to Philadelphia. The rooms themselves were comfortable, spacious and clean with good lighting...however there is no security protection for the hotel wifi--just an open signal, and I had three suspicious carriers trying to piggy back on it attempting to gain access to my computer. (I quickly shut off my wifi on my computer and phone for the entire stay) also, the TVs in two of the rooms could only get a few of the channels listed (with FOX occupying three of them) plus the TV remotes were broken. When we three compared notes about our rooms, all three bathrooms had empty soap/shampoo dispensers in the bathrooms and one of showers malfunctioned. |THE BIG problem was the check in. Advertised as smoke free that’s a lie. My room was changed twice in freezing temperatures and then told they didn’t have any more rooms. Since it was non refundable reservation we were forced to stay and deal with it. The room looked cleaned but all three of the rooms bathtubs paint were peeling away. Oh, and the mattress is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, it was like sleeping on the floor. We will never stay at this location again.

Very pleasant stay. My 2 nights stay was very comfortable and slept really well where I didn't even hear the alarm and missed my flight. 😂 So came back to my room and chilled for a bit and then went back to airport to catch the next available flight. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfy, clean and everything was perfect. I loved the shower. And was able to do ironing and watch TV. Superb so far.
