Red Roof Inn Tampa Bay - St Petersburg

The front staff was friendly but overall I would not recommend staying here. The room was dirty with hair everywhere and smelled like smoke masked with a super strong air freshener even though we requested a smoke free room. We asked for more towels because only 2 were provided and we had 4 people in the room but we were denied because "housekeeping had left for the day" The beds were decent No breakfast like they advertise Floors were sticky The entire building smelled like weed smoke The AC barely worked and was covered in a sticky substance. I recommend spending an extra $50 and staying somewhere nicer, I wish I had done that.

Shout out to Emelly for going above and beyond to help us weary travelling gals, and with an attitude of kindness! 5 stars for this motel as a bargain room. You get what you pay for which means scuffed walls and worn sheets. If that bothers you, look at a higher price point. The room is spacious and spotless, maybe a couple stains on the sheets, no problem for us. We booked a smoking room by mistake and it was.... Really bad, to be honest. Unfortunately they were fully booked so we just had to deal, but it was my mistake so it is what it is. Courtyard INCREDIBLE and a huge beautiful pool. At least 3 drink vending machines and a mile walk to gas station and fast food, or Denny's next door. Oh and we clogged the toilet and maintenance showed up quick. Nothing but positives. DO NOT STAY HERE||I booked a non-smoking room which on check-in stunk of cigarettes, mold, chemicals and body odor. There was also an ashtray next to the no smoking sign on the desk. There were hairs in the bed, bathroom and the floor was greasy.||The front desk offered to put me in a different room, but they were quite indignant about it and informed me that if this one wasn’t good enough for me that they would NOT be able to do a refund.||“you’ll have to come back on Monday and talk to the manager”||The new room smelled the same. Also came with an ashtray next to the non-smoking sign and had the previous guests hairs in the bathroom and bed.||It was late. The front desk was really not nice about it and insistent that they would not be able to give me a refund. I didn’t want to sleep

Positive: Denny's next door Negative: Upon check in the room smelled like mold, the hair dryer didn't work, and the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work. I complained to front dest and they didn't resolve the issue. Instead they cancelled my extended stay and told me not to come back

Nightmare at Red Roof. I booked a non smoking room at the Tampa st. Petersburg Red Roof inn for the week of 2/28/26-3/7/26 as I had to be in the area for medical testing. We arrived in the evening and checked in, I had prepaid the room for $602. When we walked in the room it smelled heavily of cigarettes and bleach, floors were filthy, bed was sagging with spots all over the bedding and long black hair on the dirty pillowcase!. My lungs tightened up immediately and I could hardly breath. I went to the front desk and explained her that I couldnt possibly stay in that room for a week and it was not what I paid for.
