Pulpit Rock Campground

We camped in a 5th wheel. The campground was clean. The folks in the office super helpful and friendly. The two bath houses were sufficient for anything you needed however, I did not use them. One in our group did and felt like everything was adequate. A beautiful river flowing through. Tons of walking and biking paths. And lots to do in town. My only complaint is the noise off Highway 52, but not much they can do about that!

Apart from a smelly garbage can, this campground is a wonderful place to camp and spend time. Easy access to all the trails and the trout run trail runs right outside the campground. Although the showers could use a remodel, the showers are hot and clean. There are sunny spots and shady spots to camp and if you camp along by the river or creek, you can fall asleep to the sound of running water. They have ice and firewood and the camp shop sells local meats for breakfast and dinner. No beer but the local coop in town sells local beers. I highly recommend this place. 3rd year running now

We would give 10 stars if we could, just can’t say enough good things about this place. We intended to stay one night on our way to Minnesota, but ended up staying three nights just like the office personnel thought we would. Ha ha He was soooo right! 🙂 Close to all things outdoors in Decorah, kayaking, fishing, tubing, hiking, and biking. The bike trails (@13 miles of trails with switch backs, also mountain bike trails) lead right to the campground, a beautiful trout stream runs through the property and the Upper Iowa River flows right next to it. Clean showers and bathroom facilities. Easy walk or bike ride to downtown restaurants and shops. Pulpit Rock is just around the corner, and Dunning Falls is an easy bike ride down the road. My camping crew (3 families with a total of 8 kids under 12) spent a long weekend at Pulpit Rock and had a great experience. The campground itself is nice, clean and has plenty of activities walking distance for adults or kids. Everybody loved playing around in the cold water stream on a super hot day. We caught some rainbow trout right from the campground and also checked out nearby parks/streams for further fishing attempts. The location is near a ton of family friendly places right in Decorah or right outside Decorah. Highly recommend.

Campground is very nice. Staff was extremely helpful with site selection. We had book a pull-thru site on the twin springs side. Since the road construction a few years ago the entrance is a little steep. They took us our to look at it before pulling in. Then they offered to show us some back ins on the pulpit rock side. We decided on one of those. However, even though both sites were reservable, the back in was $7 less per day. We inquired about a refund and were told they didn't refund for site changing. So even though we weren't concelling anything and they had sort of encouraged us to change sites, there was no refund. Also, the main shower house has two shower sections.
