Hotel Winneshiek

The Winneshiek provides a fantastic stay: an extremely courteous, friendly, and highly-attentive staff; cozy, comfortable rooms in a gorgeous, historic building; location, location, location! The charm of being able to step out the front door and be smack in the middle of Decorah's incredibly quaint, well-preserved downtown is immense.||||But availing yourself of the parking lot entrance and wending your way on foot down to the river is equally satisfying.||||It's a beautiful hotel in the middle of one of Iowa's most beautifulI towns.||||Oh, and the complimentary breakfast buffet is an extra, wonderful perq!||||I stayed at the Winneshiek over Memorial Day Weekend with my 91-year-old father. Everything about our stay was top notch! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, spotless and well maintained. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable and the room temp was perfect. The breakfast was simple yet very tasty. The breakfast sandwiches were so good - very different from most hotels! The absolute best part of our stay was the staff. The check in was smooth and they were so kind and thorough. The morning we checked out, our car wouldn't start! It was -10 out and our battery died. We had to be at the college in 30 minutes. The staff called in help and within 10 min a kind gentleman helped jumpstart us! They truly went above and beyond and we will tell everyone about our experience! Thank you so much to the staff there. When we are back we will only be staying at Hotel Winneshiek!!

This is a really neat hotel. Older style looking furniture, yet very comfortable. Rooms are very simple, yet very roomy. Our room has no wall hangings at all, but that's just fine. The hottub in our bathroom is wonderful. Plenty of room in there and nice and deep. Carpet is less than desirable, but you just walk on it, so no big deal. Curtains kind of remind me of a movie theater. The hallway is really cool, you walk around a circle, the rooms are tucked away everywhere.

I stayed at Hotel Winneshiek on a business trip and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and professional throughout my stay. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, full of character and timeless charm that really sets it apart. A sincere thank-you to the management for their outstanding hospitality. I would highly recommend Hotel Winneshiek to anyone traveling to the area, whether for business or leisure.

Classic, classy old Historic Hotel. Clean, well maintained rooms, lobby, areas and elevators, nice event space with old opera house and conference spaces. Reception and Room Service extremely limited and not very knowledgeable on hotel check in and room openings.
