OYO Hotel Mesa Verde - Cortez

Nice, clean, quiet and friendly place! Strong water pressure in the shower. The king size bed was the room I had stayed in. Walls are blue and white with Indian decorations. Little mini fridge, coffee or tea maker. Sink with a mirror. Everything but a stove or microwave, but good news is you can go to the office and they have a microwave you can use. There was also a Ice machine and tons of pamphlets about the surroundings and places near by to visit. They also give out some free food that was donated if you like. Service was excellent! AC works like a dream in this 90+ degree weather. Stayed 4 nights. Would definitely stay again!

Given the reviews here and on the other sites, I was expecting a well above average motel. But it appears there was a recent change in ownership and, with those ownership changes, came changes in hospitality and the guest experience. I stayed here in August 2019, which judging by past reviews, was shortly after the change in ownership. Check-in was alright and I was directed to a room in the front of the property. When I pulled up to my room, a staff member doing work on the came up to me and asked for my room key so he could turn on the AC and make sure the room was ready...okay. This might just be my New York paranoia talking, but I gave the room a thorough inspection when I got inside. I've never had a motel worker ask for my key or enter my room beforehand to make sure it was ready.|||

This place is great!!! The rooms are clean and comfortable. I love the old style of the place. You can even park right outside your room, which is super convenient and secure. I brought a dog, and they have a walking path behind the motel that connects to a nature trail. That was very helpful for my dog when needing to do his business. The owner is also very thoughtful and friendly. It's run by a couple, but I just met Connie, and she rocks! A solid night of sleep, too. I'll be stopping here again and will recommend it to anyone who asks.

I have been reading other reviews here and it’s hilarious how the owner keeps apologizing here to people who leave bad reviews instead of fixing the problems mentioned. I did not have roaches in my room and it did not smell like somebody died there (lol), but it was not in the best condition either. The tap had no water running. There were large amounts of garbage right outside my room, so you can tell they have people who live here weekly and monthly (which is fine), but they really need someone to clean the motel- This place is in a dire need of maintenance and upgrade! And another thing, the manager said she would come back with fresh towels after showing me the room- never came back! Anyhoo, the price is low and the manager asks if the person is okay with the room- so it’s on the pers

Absolutely avoid this motel. Thank goodness we asked to see the room. We were taken behind the first building to the second building. It smelled wretched. It had piles of stuff outside as a dump covered with tarp. Very unsanitary. There was a roller bed outside and the cleaning lady who was sitting outside smoking said she was going to use it tonight to sleep on. Definitely not good. We stayed in Do e Creek instead
