Bright Star Campground

I visited here in late October with my dad and partner, and we loved it! There were so many fun activities nearby, especially biking and hiking, and the pavilion and kitchen area made cooking easy. All of the camp hosts were lovely. We’ll definitely be back someday.

Bright Star Camp Ground is absolutely FANTASTIC! I cannot say enough nice things about the hospitality, service, and beauty of the grounds. This visit I had my sister with me, but usually I travel solo. This is the perfect place for solo travelers. Service: I had several changes to my stay at Bright Star. The first was adding an additional night. The second was after a mishap in Utah with most of my camping gear during a sand storm. I requested to switch to a cabin a few hours before check in. The requested was granted with no issues. Thankfully, too! There was a major storm not long after we arrived and tent camping would not have been ideal. Great setting near Mesa Verde National Park (visible from inside the park) offering numerous choices from basic tent & RV sites to a hogan or tipis. Remote enough from US160 and the town of Cortez to be very quiet and peaceful as well as having incredible views, especially of the night sky. Guests have access to a full kitchen, creative spaces, covered areas for games, dining and much more. The owners are energetic, friendly and very helpful people who love the outdoors and adventures in natural settings.

I was on a road trip, just camping wherever I happened to end up. I picked Bright Star because I thought it would be fun to sleep in a tipi, and my tipi was most excellent. Nice views of Mesa Verde. The only negative is this campground is located in farm country, and the neighboring farms had pm barking dogs and am crowing roosters.

I came in late in the night and reserved a tent site. When I explored a bit this morning - wow!! A fully stocked kitchen with all the tools and sinks, an adorable social space, cheery painted flowers and real flowers dotting the grounds - what a treat! Highly recommend, will definitely return!
