Old Orchard Beach Motel

SCAM ALERT! I booked a weeklong stay at the Old Orchard Beach Motel and even tried to add an extra night before my reservation. When I arrived, I was shocked to find the entire property under major renovation — the building wasn’t open, and there were construction materials scattered everywhere. It was obvious no guests could possibly stay there. Despite this, the hotel still accepted my online reservation and immediately charged my credit card for the full amount. I’m now disputing the charge with my credit card company. I doubt this place has a license to operate... Maybe I'll call the city. This place is a complete scam. Avoid at all costs.

We had a fantastic stay at the Old Orchard Beach Motel! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how spotlessly clean everything was—from the rooms to the common areas. You can tell the staff really takes pride in maintaining the property. The hospitality was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and truly above and beyond. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. It’s rare to find such genuine service these days! The location was also super convenient, just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and all the local attractions. Do not stay here. I repeat, DO NOT STAY HERE. The website is so misleading. This place is so run down and the rooms are filthy. It shows a kitchenette, but there are absolutely no kitchenware to use in the kitchenette. What good is a stove without a frying pan or spatula? There were no cups, plates, bowls, anything. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and we could feel every spring in the mattress. There were holes and dents all over the walls and the floors looked like they hadn't been mopped in months. The shower did not get hot, more like luke warm at best. And it is advertised at "Ocean front"...no. There is nothing ocean front about it. The ocean is across the street behind other ocean front resorts. Not to mention the resort is run by teenagers and they literally have a 12 year old

**Pros:** It's just a 2-minute walk to the beach. Nice clean and heated pool. **Cons:** Freight trains run behind the hotel all night! Read that again… still here? Ok… The place is run by a group of teenagers, and the cleanliness is below average. We had to ask for towels and soap, as none were provided upon our arrival. There was only one roll of toilet paper, and no staff were available to supply more, so we had to use our own paper towels instead. The bath towels were stained. Overall, it felt more like living in a campground than staying at a motel, especially considering the better options available next door. The staff were often absent, making it seem more like a campground shack. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I would recommend avoiding it.

ROACHES While staying in this motel, we observed a cockroach sitting on one of the cabinets on the second night of our stay. We immediately called the desk and informed them that we would not be staying at the hotel any longer. No refund was offered, and when I called the hotel back to request a refund, the owner stated that he did not see any cockroaches in the room. When I then provided him with photos of the cockroach, he stopped responding and has not answered any of the numerous phones calls or text messages which I have since made to him. Do not stay at this hotel. It likely has an unremediated cockroach infestation which the owners do not care to fix. The owner is happy to ignore your concerns even with photographic proof of the issue.
