Ocean High Condominiums

While we enjoyed many wonderful vacations at Ocean High in our younger years, my husband, who is now 92, and I (who am a little younger) found our last few visits a little challenging because of all the stairs involved. Up a flight of stairs to the front door, then down a flight of stairs for a quick post-trip to the bathroom and 1 bedroom or shower and jacuzzi. Back up 2 more flights (1 to the little entryway and another to the kitchen/great room level.) Then, to reach the master bedroom/bathroom suite, yet another big flight of stairs. So we called the office to see what could be done. Could we switch to another unit that was disabled (translate to "old") friendly? No. There was none. All units are pretty much the same. Instead, we were advised to fax a letter that would turn our 2 weeks

So I agree with the others. Outdated rooms. Dirty carpet. Bathrooms are old. Cracked tiles everywhere. The location is nice. The furniture is old and uncomfortable. No chairs in the living room or bedrooms. We called maintenance and they didn’t come. We had to walk to the office the next day and they sent someone because the “hot tub” doesn’t work. And there is not enough hot water to fill it. We had to use our tea kettle. So unbelievably bad. Maintenance said they would come back and never did. The TV in the room had a blown speaker and they wouldn’t fix it either. We had to use our fire stick and a Bluetooth speaker. All in all a disappointment. We rushed out at 10am only to find out later checkout is at 12. No information about how to use the fireplace. Hope they fix it up.

The dank and "basement-y" smell was immediately apparent, and after just 5 minutes in the condo, I started wheezing. Bits of the ceiling had fallen onto the master bedroom bed. Carpet was dingy, there was a chunk missing from the dining room table. We had to flee to another hotel with breathable air thereby losing many points and a fair bit of money, which I would like to be returned to me.

These units are so old. The carpet is filthy. The living room and kitchen are not too bad, but there is no bathroom on that level so you have to either go downstairs or up another flight of stairs to go to the bathroom. The ceramic tile is all cracked and I think that the comforters in the downstairs bathroom must be at least 40 years old. Absolutely terrible resort.

Love my times at Ocean High. The location is convenient for beach, bay and boardwalk while still being peaceful and quiet. ||It's a small resort, the staff is wonderful. The units are older but maintained well. And if you get to have a water view the bay and canal are lovely. ||It's a great location for restaurants too. Pizza, sushi, deli, ice cream, brunch, fast food, decadent happy hour, seafood, bbq are all within 10 minutes walking. Sunsets are lovely too.
