Let's be honest about this resort...the cabin was nice...the owners were just ok and the fishing is not as advertised...there is not a good population of walleye...northerns were hard to come by, but the smallmouth and largemouth fishing was decent, but this little lake is not teeming with walleye or northern.

We returned to this lovely and peaceful place on quiet Mitchell Lake with our kids and granddaughter for at least the 5th time. The cabins are rustic and comfortable. The lake is beautiful and the sandy beach a rare find in this North Country. Lovely time all around. A family tradition that we all look forward to every year.

After I booked this place, I found a really bad review for cabin #5, the one we stayed in. I can tell you that cabin #5 was great. Bathroom had newer linoleum floor, and there were no crazy smells. This cabin has a wonderful view of the lake and beach area. Parents can relax on the screened-in porch and still keep an eye on their kids swimming/playing. There’s no bathroom counter, just the sink, so be aware of that if it’s important to you. Also, there’s no door on the larger bedroom. It’s a rustic place. My 9-year-old son said he would rather visit this place than Disneyworld! My kids had a blast swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and jumping on the giant “Maui Mat” in the clear lake. We have been coming here for a few years now and staying in cabin 11. Love the vibe here. It's peaceful with beautiful lake views and our cabin feels nicely secluded in the Northwoods. Our kiddo loves digging and playing at the beach, even when it's not swimming weather. Glad that pets are welcome! Zach and Rane are fantastic! Cabins are always clean and they are super quick to respond if anything comes up. Can't wait to return!

A friend and I badly needed a post-pandemic lock down break. I had grown up in the area and (of course) had no ideas where to stay. A Minneapolis friend had been coming here for years and recommended it. What a glorious trip! First, the resort is located about 4 miles outside Ely on the road to Babbit. I thought that might be too close in, but it felt like we were at the end of the Echo Trial! The lake is just lovely -- deep and blue -- much of the shoreline is public forest, so there are not many houses or cabins on the lake (no speed boat or jet ski noise at all when we were there). We couldn't have been happier with Cabin 8 -- plenty of room for two adult friends -- beautiful porch overlooking the lake. The new managers -- Zach and Rain -- were a delight! So helpful and so personable.
