I personally have been going there for over 28 years and have never experienced what catherine said. Look all around the lake for resorts and they are pretty costly! For your money though you get a very nice cottage with cable tv and a great view of the lake. If it rains 2 days straight the drains will go slower than usual but the signs in the cottage tell you this. In 28 years I have stayed in every cottage here and have never seen a mouse. I am curious as to how she did considering you can't see into the attics or the crawl space. If your looking for an affordable place actually on the water for your family at a good price this place is for you. There is great fishing off the dock and a ton of stuff to do in town or at the state park. My entire family looks forward to our annual trip up
I do not know what us happening on this beautiful lake, but there is no bait shops on Upper Hamlin anymore. Wish I could open one myself. It would only be in the summer season but worth it.
We fell in love with the North Bayou of Hamlin Lake the first time that we stumbled upon the North Bayou Resort (1989), and have been vacationing in this area every summer since. We stayed in all of the cottages and never had a bad experience. The cabins are clean, well-kept and modestly priced, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. The lake is one of the most beautiful in Michigan, and is right out the front door. Fishing boats, licenses, and bait are available at the resort, and the State Park and Lake Michigan beaches are just across the lake.
North Bayou is a wonderful resort. We've been going there for years. It'sin a great location, friendly owners, good fishing, and a great view from every cabin. The price for the cabins is a good deal. I've never had any issues.
We stayed in a cabin that cost over $400 for a week. Not a high price, but for what we got I shouldn't have had to pay anything for it. The shower did not drain (ok, it did, but took about an hour to drain 3 inches of water), the kitchen sink had the same non-drainage problem, the pipes made such loud noises that we were woken up in the middle of the night, and we had not only an ant infestation, but also rats in the attic/crawl space. The owners would not even consider a reduced rate. It was horrible.
