My Place Hotel-Anchorage, AK

4 stars for the room because I reserved a two bed but was given wheel chair accessible type of room even though I am not, the microwave plate did not spin, easy fix. I apparently left a tablet after check out and they called me about two hrs later to tell me I forgot it and to pick it up. Not many places will do this, I appreciate it and will continue to book here.

This is a complicated review because our party of 3 rooms (all adults) stayed at My Place Anchorage before and after a train trip (several days in between). ||Our first stay - a week night. We all checked in at midnight. No significant issues. Had breakfast at the grocery nearby. ||Our second stay - a weekend night. We all checked in different times midnight and thereafter. ||First room did not have any issues but front desk mentioned that the hotel had no rooms available (an indication that it was busy). ||The second room had SECURITY issue where the checkin key card opened door to room where someone was in bed. A new room was issued. No double latch system on door. ||Third room - told upon checkin at 2:00 am that TV is broken in that room and that ice maker on floor is broken. Had no ch

Positive: The kitchens that include large fridge and freezer. Negative: It would be nice if they could supply dishes and cookware.

I have traveled often during my 70+ years of existence and this is my first review. I felt compelled to write it because this was by far the worst experience at a hotel I’ve ever had. My husband and I were traveling with our two young grandchildren, and our flight arrived 9 hours late, at about 6:30 a.m. We headed straight to the hotel, figuring we’d have time to shower and rest before traveling on. We were “greeted” by an extremely grumpy front desk woman who informed us that we couldn’t check in because 4 a.m. is the cut-off for doing so. When I responded, “But we paid for the room,” the woman got annoyed and stormed out into a neighboring room, refusing to talk to me further. Had to change rooms twice during check in. 1st time they gave me a room that was not clean, bed undone, trash waiting to pick up. Second time AC was loud and not working properly. There is barely hot water. Just a little warmer than the cold water. Laundry machines only accept quarters and there is no ATM in the hotel, had to waste 30min of my time to look for cash. There are lots of homeless nearby and no security in the parking lot. The windows don't have proper black out curtains and during the short nights of summer it is hard to sleep.
