Black Spruce Campground

Military Only. Nice campground with all pull thru sites. Roads are wide and easy to navigate. Sites we're level and wide. Almost all have FHUs with 30 amp service. There seemed to be one cross street that did not have sewer connections. We were there in mid June 2022. Less than 25% of the sites we're occupied. No reservations but if you call their number (it goes to outdoor rec) they can at least give you an idea of how full it is. Easy to get there from the highway so it is worth checking. While there we drove thru the Elmendorf FamCamp. Sites are close together, and sites are not very wide, lots of tree branches and no sewer hook ups.

Got lucky to find a site at the end of July on a Thursday. Fills up quick, looks like a number of week+ retiree stays. Sites are small and heavily wooded. More like wide spots in the road to park on, most with picnic tables. Enjoyed the f22s taking off at 2am and waking up to the live fire training at 4am... but to be expected, it IS an active military base. Seems high priced at $33 a night (I dont use power or water hookups), but if you need power and water, I guess it's not too bad. Lots of bears in this area of the base.

A great campground. I would have to say it is better than JBER family camp. It was tricky to find a map so I took a picture of it here for you. There is also a single shower and toilet which was very small and quiet but if someone is already there you may have to wait. The showers were much hotter than JBER which was warm at best in both shower houses. The laundry is $1.50 for both washer and dryer.

Easy self check in/out. Camp host does a great job of keeping the laundry and showers clean. I will definitely be back
