Maples Motel

Our family has been coming to the Maples as long as I can remember after our 30yr+ annual July 4th CP get together. The owners and my parents always had great conversations and they made it feel like more than an overnight stay or a motel, they really make you feel welcome

My husband and I stayed here during Labor Day weekend. The Maple Hotel is a family run business that has been passed down. Haleigh the girl at check in was polite friendly and even wrote down local restaurants for us to try. This Motel is a very safe and welcoming place! We met another couple from West Virginia and the gentleman has been staying there since he was young. (We are an older couple.)First the smell of the room was clean and fresh. I always grab a wash cloth and wipe it over the carpet to see how clean the floors are this floor was spotless!! It may not be the Ritz but when you stay at the Ritz you don’t get the warm quaint feeling and you never get the owner coming out and talking with you while he is cleaning rooms!! Rooms always smell fresh and clean. Great location far enough away from the traffic of Cedar Point next to a nature preserve and right by the back entrance of the park. Owner is very friendly and the rates are fair. There is a railroad crossing across the street and a loud train horn blows every 40 minutes or so. I heard they have earplugs but I enjoy the sound, especially the rumble of a train, doesn’t keep me awake. The pool is fresh and clean and cold. Donuts and coffee in the office in the morning if you’re up early enough. Always a nice stay.

I went there when the mother was still alive. What a gracious women and a class act!!|I loved the nostalgic factor. They had real keys!|She gave me a key chain as a souvenir.|If there are tshirts to order I would love to order one. I misplaced mine.|I saw someone wearing the tshirt at Cider Point and that was the reason we stayed there.|The pool was so clean and beautiful. |I loved this place and hopefully will be staying there again soon.|It is such a good reminder of such a more gracious time.

I don't know how the average review of this place is so high. I'll give it 2 stars rather than 1, because the guy there was friendly and helped with the temperature inside the room when we raised that concern. But the rooms really need a thorough re-modeling. There was no lock on the bathroom door, the sink looked like it was being kept up by a tent pole, there were holes in the sheets, and flies in the room. It took an hour to swat all of them. The outlets were also very hard to reach. I had to use my laptop as an extension cord for things like my phone. Many reviewers said they like the old fashioned feel of this place, and if you like it too, that's good! But if you ask me, the right word to use is outdated, not vintage. The Spenser House in Erie PA is a perfect example of a vintage,
