The hotel is okay overall and looks decent on the inside. The noise was unbearable from hearing the toilet running above us to people talking outside the window. The walls were far to thin and contributed to poor sleep. I heard the toilet running above us so loudly at night. Also the housekeeper entered the room while my family and I were napping. We never heard her announce herself and only realized she entered bevause the towels were replaced. This was very off putting and alarming. The lock on the door did not lock because the lock was misaligned with the door.

Upon arrival, the first room we were assigned had visible hair in the beds. We were then offered a second room, which unfortunately had makeup stains on the pillows. When we reported this to the front desk, we were told that the only available option was to move back to the original room with hair in the beds. We elected to stay in the second room and requested fresh linens for all beds, which we ultimately had to replace and make ourselves. Later that evening, as we were preparing for bed, we closed one of the bedroom doors and discovered several unidentified pills on the floor clearly left behind by a previous guest. I will start with the good. The shower was excellent and the bed was comfy.Room 128 had no kleenex, clock, hangers or hairdryer. If MainStay is supposed to be like home, this place wasn't! Apparently they are trying to save the earth because the lighting is so dim you will not be reading in the room or applying makeup. Bathroom has a vessel sink which is a pain. There was a bar of soap and nowhere to put it. No plastic cups for brushing your teeth, but instead they have glass tumblers. Dangerous if one of those hits the tile bathroom floor! The web-site advertises free breakfast but there is no such thing. Then take it off of your web-site!

Jay is outstanding, we've stayed here 3 different times when visiting Columbia, SC. The place is well taken care of, rooms large with a king-size bed and a pullout sofa. Highly recommend. Promote, Promote, Promote

The staff is always friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and very clean. My mom and I visit my brother in Columbia and we choose to stay here because of the clean rooms and the friendly staff!
