Lake Haven Family Campground

Great RV park! Super easy to pull in and out of. Large sites with picnic tables and fire pits. Free firewood! And there’s an awesome lawn with Adirondack chairs and fire pit up on the hill where you can hang out and let the dogs run around. Great views!

As a retired Air Force couple with over five years of experience as full-time RVers, we have stayed at countless campgrounds across the country. We selected Lake Haven for an extended stay this past July while searching for a permanent home in the Lake Watauga area, drawn by its advertisement for year-round availability. The location is excellent, and our site was level with full hookups, a nice picnic table, and a fire pit. Maneuvering into the spot was also straightforward, despite some large boulders. Two concerns: no owners or host(s) onsite and the entrance/exits can be quite dangerous - each located on a curve.|We really wanted to love this campground, but the positive aspects were completely overshadowed by the unprofessional behavior of the owners. My wife Svetlana and I had been planning on visiting Jonesborough for quite some time and happened upon Lake Haven when researching a place to stay. Even though it's about an hour from Jonesborough, it was well worth the drive to and from. Beautiful,picturesque mountain view of the lake, deer wondering around and a very peaceful atmosphere. I'm sure, as this is a new campground, in the years to come as they open the bath house, pool and any other amenities, this is going to be an even more amazing place for us to stay for years to come! This new campground has beautiful views with no amenities other than water, sewer, electric and Wi-Fi, at this time. Their goal is to add additional campsites along with a laundry. We stayed for a week at campsite # 1 and loved the serene quietness. There is a church at the edge of the property and a dollar general you could walk to if you wished. Lake Watauga is not far and Johnson City is about 30-40 minutes away by car. Lynne & Chuck were great hosts.

New campground with sewer, water and elec., that is the good news. All gravel and not easy walking around the park. Grass needs to be cut shorter or more often. Very dangerous pulling into and out of the campground. You pull out to 321 busy road right in a curve. I would suggest putting a large hwy mirror to be able to pull out safely on that curve! Large rocks around the campground, as a matter of fact we hit one.
