Took 2 days off the trail to nurse a minor injury(s) and resupply. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Rooms are spacious. Living area has everything a hiker needs to relax. I'll definitely be back!
Ben Brown provided a shuttle service for a three-day hike on the AT. We are three old retired guys. He was so courteous, punctual, and helpful. We parked at the family store and Ben drove us to a road crossing and dropped us off on the trial. The ride up was like having our own tour guide telling us so many great stories and interesting information about the local area. Although this was not included in the quote, he said if we had any problems to give him a call. Sure enough, I had a back issue and had to come off the trail early. He arranged for a rendezvous and picked us and took us back to our car. He made the whole experience a real pleasure. If you need a shuttle service Ben is the best we have ever used.
As I was exhausted and trying to evaluate my condition, lucky I was was meeting Ben who told me about his parents hostel and gave me a ride to that location. My god, it was a castle look place. Whata nice place to have zero day in an historical place. For only $25, I was allowed to have a room all to myself. Extra clean with a good size kitchen and a large common area that later on met other hikers to share stories. Later on discovered that there is a very interesting and informative history for this building. The room was specious and the original oak wooden floor was very nicely preserved. Hot shower and clean towel added to the enjoyment of zero day. The hostel is run by very nice and helpful family. If you stay there, ask for a tour of the basement and how the building had been built a
I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the shuttle ride. The prices are very reasonable. Ben was quite courteous. We had a great conversation as he drove me to my drop off place on the A.T. I highly recommend this place for anyone needing a hostel in or near Hampton, TN.
Had a fantastic stay at The Castle! Am thru-hiking the AT and needed to get home for an event, so I stayed here on my way out and coming back to the trail. The Brown family were fantastic hosts, got me to and from the airport (Tri-Cities) and set me up in a spacious room with everything I needed (which was mostly just space to organize all my gear. Nice kitchen and really comfortable living room area with a desk, couch, TV, etc. All just exactly what I needed (including resupply groceries and dinner supplies at their store across the street). ALSO, got to visit with a handful of puppies that they are socializing. So… really… can’t beat that!!
