La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Horn Lake / Southaven Area

This was a last-minute stay due to exhaustion, and I was pleased with both the accommodations and the staff. The room was clran, comfortable, and my stay overall was very pleasant. The only minor observation was that the continental breakfast selection was somewhat limited. Aside from that, my experience was nice and comfortable.

Positive: The location. Close to activities, shopping and interstate highways. The lobby was nicely cleaned. Negative: My room was dated. All the towels and linens were stained. Face bowl missing stopper. The toilet seat was not cleaned, carpet was stained and the entire hotel and room reeked of chlorine from the pool.

My family and I stopped here on our trip to help our parents move. My mom was the one who found the place while looking for pet-friendly places as we had a cat that was moving with my parents. We had been traveling all day and when all we wanted was to rest our heads, we walked into a room that was disgusting. I know we weren't expecting a 4-star hotel but I was not expecting to walk into a room where it looks like the owners give no crap about their business. If I was the owner, I would be embarrassed to have anyone rent this room. What we paid was not worth it the quality of the room. The bathroom door, had a hinge that was falling off. Before we even got checked in the lady at the front desk really seemed like she did not want to be there what so ever, didn’t even look at you when you talked to her not much of a conversationalist at all. Tried to charge me twice for the same room and when I asked why I was being charged again she could tell me why, and I explained the payment had already been made. Which is crazy because when I check out of the one downtown Memphis they don’t charge until the stay is over with. But whatever When we finally got into the room the room was okay, very humid in there. The bed was so hard, the pillows smelled like they had never been changed and just a lot of heads were recently on the pillows, there were spiders on the wall, something was on the floor making us itch. We booked an ADA accessible room and were assigned one on the second floor while the elevator was out of service, which should not happen when an accessible room is requested. As Wyndham Diamond members, we were approved for a late checkout during check-in. A housekeeping note confirms this request was acknowledged internally, yet it was aggressively denied the next morning. Our door was pounded on, and we were given less than ten minutes to get out of bed, pack, and vacate the room. The follow-up response from the property was dismissive, contained conflicting information, and failed to address the accessibility concern.
