We loved our time at Kona Hills! It was so nice to camp somewhere close to town that didn’t feel like a parking lot. As a local, it was the ultimate staycation and gave us a chance to explore a part of the Marquette area that was new to us. The fire pits were wonderful and everything was very thoughtfully laid out. Highly recommend!
My friends and I (a group of six) stayed at this campground over the weekend and had an amazing time! We were on Lot 27, which was perfect for our group—it easily fit three tents and a canopy tent with room to spare. The firepits were spacious and came with cooking grates, which were super handy for campfire meals. The porta-potties were surprisingly clean and very close to our site. We were also happy to hear that the owners are planning to add bathroom houses in the future, which will be a great upgrade. Speaking of the owners, Sara and her husband were fantastic hosts—always available and quick to respond to any questions we had. Their hospitality really made a difference. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and we loved the peaceful vibe of the whole area. Some campsites are smalle
My friend and I camped at Kona Hills over Labor Day weekend and it was a great experience! Our campsite felt secluded in our own little nook of woods. It was nice to be so close to Marquette and still feel like we were rustic camping. Will definitely be returning!
This is a RUSTIC campground, and you get exactly what the website describes. The artesian hand pump well water was fantastic. Bottled up some to enjoy on the rest of my trip. For tent camping the elevated decks on certain sites provide a nice, level surface to deal with. The fire pits are massively overbuilt, and very nice. The view driving out of the site, out over mighty Lake Superior were stunning. Truly a great spot for those looking for a RUSTIC campground in a great location.
This is a new campground. The temporary port-a-pottys are clean. There is water available at a pump and firewood for purchase. The sites are nicely sized, wooded and give a sense of privacy. Each site has a huge metal fire ring that allows you to have a fire. It has a removable grill top that you can use for cooking. Getting in is a little steep in spots, but any vehicle can make it up the well graded slopes. Awesome place.
