Kennebunkport Inn

The location was great, and we loved the common areas. We booked a room that also had a day bed. The day bed was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep on it at all. I guess it was a blessing since the smoke detector decided to go off in the middle of the night, and the only way for the not so kind person to access it was to step all over it. I understand the Inn is old, but the mildew smell from the AC was pretty bad. The bathroom was updated and very nice. The front desk person was very nice upon check-in, but the lady during our checkout not so much. While I understand the battery going bad on the smoke detector wasn't necessarily their fault, an apology would have been nice for what we paid for the room. Or even a "how was your stay". 10/10! My wife and I chose to stay at Kennebunkport Inn after a lot of research on options in the area. Candidly, I was slightly nervous given some of the negative reviews around room size (people complained about the Riverhouse rooms being small) and the breakfast provided. I am also a light sleeper and was concerned it might be noisy given that it is an older building. We absolutely loved our stay. We booked a riverhouse king and the room is plenty big for two adults to navigate comfortably. Breakfast is exactly as advertised and that it is “continental” but full of great options. Our room was quiet and stylish. The staff is super friendly. The location is great. And the restaurant and bar wonderful. Don’t let any of the negative reviews scare you. Lovely hotel right in downtown Kennebunkport. The rooms were very eclectic and the food was amazing. They have lots of 'hang out' space both outside and inside. We ate dinner one at the restaurant and it was delicious. I also really enjoyed the muffins for breakfast. The location can not be beat and the staff was friendly.

This hotel used to be one of our favorites but in the past 2 years it has become uncomfortable and has fallen to the influencer trap. We usually stay here and boathouse, going forward boathouse will be the choice. We have done birthdays, anniversaries, and a new years here. The staff is always lovely and in past when we had heating go out in a room, or like a previous review mentioned, stayed the bowing beds, they have moved us. This past stay was the last for us. Both nights we dealt with quite intoxicated people making noise at all hours, the second night with noise up til 3am. The restaurant staff is lovely but the food this year left something to be desired. When we stayed in March, we had a similar experience where one of the dishes was inedible.
