Islander Motel Ocean City

Reservations were made in Feb 2025. We were not told $870 would not be refunded if we canceled until they charged us which was immediately when making the reservation. 2 weeks before we were to go my back went out. I couldn't even sit. I was given a shot a week later which took awhile to give me any relief. We called and explained situation and advised we could provide proof so we were told a medical emergency would be given for investigation. Never heard a word for 3 weeks and then received a response that after their investigation we were told, before we paid of the refund policy so nothing would be honored. THIS WAS LIE AFTER LIE! No refund policy given until they had our money and NO investigation! And I am sure they probably rented our room out so they double dipped! I would not r

I rated this stay on the booking site I used and they responded with "why didn't you notify the front desk" like what are they going to do come build me a new room..... The whole room smelled of mold as soon as you entered but I didn't plan on being there much so I said oh well. The whole bathroom had mold everywhere and the vent was just for noise lol thw curtains weren't even wide enough to cover the window completely. They made me pay for parking in their parking lot and for an extra spot even though there were 2 adults checked into the room.

Rooms are nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. TV was in an odd place to watch from the bed. Shower was clean and easy to get in and out of. Vending machines, ice maker and coffee maker would make it better. 3:30 pm check in is a bit of a pain. Especially when check out is 11:00am. But 2 blocks to the beach is nice.

Ac unit sets off the fire alarm if you “put it in the wrong mode.” But it’s just cheap equipment. Other than paying more for a room half the size of the rest of the motel, this place is a rat trap. Ants in the bathroom, nothing is cleaned, no extra towels or toilet paper unless you go down and get it yourself. The shelves were held together with tacks which fall apart as soon as you put anything on it. The comforter had a big blood stain on it which i have pictures of and didn’t notice until the end of the trip. The manager cannot be reached nor will any money be refunded. Also you pay $10 per day for parking.

Positive: The pool outside Negative: There was no wifi, the room was dirty. I had to bleach my own room and bathroom.
