Hyatt Place Athens / Downtown

Super convenient to the Classic center and Aiken arena and UGA. Can walk to any of these areas. Enjoyed our stay and staff members were helpful but have one recommendation to hotel - need to deep clean breakfast area and better train staff on proper infection control and cleaning techniques. Breakfast bar area needs a good cleaning as utensil containers had old food buildup in them, heat sources for food had grease and grime build up along edges and staff serving doors were filthy. I saw a staff member sneeze in her hand and then wipe her hand with the towel she was cleaning tables with.

Wow. Can’t recommend this hotel enough. We usually stay at other chain hotels but this one was much cheaper this time. We loved it and will stay again. Very clean, updated, great location, and the breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever had.

Had tickets for a local show. It was a COLD Friday night and the coffee shop near the venue was closed. Stepped in to get a cup of coffee or directions to another coffee shop. My GF and I were greated by super friendly staff and offered complementary coffee. Made small talk with the staff and then SISSY asked if we had ever visited their ROOF TOP BAR. We had not and SISSY took us on a tour to the rooftop. The view from rooftop bar was beautiful and we will definitely return when the weather warms up. If you have not visited the rooftop bar please do so. If you want to meet a wonderful represenative of the Hyatt find SISSY. She made our night.

Our room was haunted. I do recommend this hotel, just not room 525. There was what sounded like a whistling sound and when it got quiet, it sounded like more of a howl. I could hear it from the hallway as well. No other rooms seemed to have this problem. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal though, which I believe made up for our room being haunted. My other issue I had was the guy at the front desk told us the parking was on him as a gift to us since it was our anniversary. They still changed us though.
