Hotel in Hudson New York | St Charles Hotel

staying at this hotel was a baffling, disorienting, and all around unnerving experience. several times during my sojourn to Hudson, NY i felt that i was no longer of this earth; the St. Charles evades categorization. not a first, second, or third space, but rather a fourth one, like getting caught in a tesseract a la Interstellar (dir. nolan, 2014). the spacetime continuum… forget about it. it’s been torn asunder. the Charles retains a staff of individuals i believe to be phantoms of sorts, against whom i have no prejudice, but it was nearly impossible to get anything close to what most would describe as “service.” upon arrival we waited at the desk for several eternities before the receptionist appeared despite all previous efforts to contact him. we checked our bags because our rooms

Our room was pretty bare bones but clean and the beds were comfortable. However, the heating system sounded like an airplane was landing all night - so loud and horrible. Walls are paper thin and any noise in the hall could be heard in the room. The breakfast buffet was unappealing packaged pastry and a hot try of unappetizing sausage and eggs. Really disappointed for the price we paid.

Positive: I didn't stay. No one was working the desk. The front door was open. I waited 45 minutes in the lobby. No one ever came. Absolutely unacceptable. Negative: I didn't like that no one showed up to work their shift.

We only booked this hotel because it was the last available for the weekend, and I have to say I was really disappointed. Stuffy/smelly room, what appeared to be dog hair on the bed, tiny bath towels that would not wrap around anyone larger than myself, elevator is sketchy, they lock the doors at 11 so you have to call and wake up the front desk if you have a later night out. They need to replace the carpets and towels throughout, hire better cleaners or train them to clean properly, and get a card reader for the front door. Then, I think the price per night would MAYBE be justified. I’d never stay here again :/

There are beautiful antique shops nearby as well as a spa. The hotel itself is small and quiet and very beautiful. My week there has been amazing and the manager along with he room service lady are very kind. Would definitely stay again 🤗
