Hotel Fuego Bronx

Roaches Roaches Roaches!! If you’re in a pinch and you really really need a quick place to stay I’d recommend here, but please be careful because this hotel has roaches. I personally don’t think their prices are worth small and uncomfortable rooms. You’re better off staying somewhere else like the Hilton.

In my 30 years of life, this is definitely the worst hotel experience I had from beginning to end. We were somehow double booked at the hotel. We let the lady at check in know that we had already paid for our hotel via affirm. However it was extremely clear that the desk attendant did not care about us at all because she was far more invested in a personal phone call. She ended up double charged us for the room so we were out $600 for our trip to NYC. We booked at this location specifically because we saw advertised that this was the “grand opening” of the location. I’ll attach photos but every single thing was in disrepair. This is the worst and most unprofessional hotel I have stayed at. First was the desk person who refused to engage to talk to me when they checked me in. She was on the phone the whole time ignoring me while I asked “what am I being charged for?” When I had a pre paid booking already and she went ahead and charged me for a second stay. They still have not refunded me when they promised they would. They have also tried their best to avoid me and not resolve this. Also our keycard resets every night and we have to get it fixed each time. The hotel room itself is disgusting and smells.

Terrible motel! Room smelled like mold and cigarettes, sheets were dingy and the bed spread smelled and had a cigarette burn in it. We did not use the room and left immediately. The front desk guy said he needed to talk to the owner about a refund but the cheap way this motel is run, and looks, we doubt they would refund us. After numerous calls we were ignored and then denied a refund even though we never used the room. There was a fight outside when we arrived, so just beware that this is not a safe area to be in, either. Do not recommend!!

My spouse did not feel safe, and I did not feel much better. The entrance had no sightlines into the lobby from the street. I suspect a drug pickup point around the corner. The shower was very clean, though. There are far better bargain hotels to be found. Seek them out.
