Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ventura Harbor by IHG

Stayed here for going to Channel Islands NP, super close to Island Packers and visitor center. Room was fairly clean. Comfy and updated. Only complaint is that walls are very thin, if you have loud neighbors, you're going to hear them. Breakfast has been pretty good each day. Since they had flooding recently, they are waiving the $12 per day parking fee for now. I was surprised to learn about the parking fee as I didn't see anything on their site about it. Would stay here again overall.

Positive: The location was absolutely breathtaking in the morning on the water. It was clean and reasonably priced. Negative: When I got there, the system for the key cards went down and the security had to let me in my room but I did not have a key myself. This made me uncomfortable. I was not offered any compensation for my inconvenience.

The location is excellent if you want to visit the Ventura Harbor. The room decor is modern, stark, and almost industrial. Warning, if you are booking a room with the so-called patio on the first floor facing Harbor Blvd, beware. What you get is a small triangular space facing an 8 ft wall. While staying there the television service went out. I complained and the hotel manager provided a new room on the second floor that had a balcony that did not face the 8 ft wall and the television worked. The description of the hotel says that it has a pool and jacuzzi. The pool and jacuzzi are located in the Four Points Sheraton hotel next door. You will need a separate room key to access those facilities that you must obtain from the front desk at the Sheraton. I did not discover this until I h

Rooms have been updated, lighting is good. The harbor view rooms are quiet. The internet is good, and the gym equipment is in decent shape. Staff was excellent and they charge for parking like most hotels in the area. Good food available close by.

This Holiday Inn by the ocean is incredible. The room is spotless with a great view of the water, and you could actually hear the waves when the balcony door was open. Staff were friendly without being over the top—just genuine, helpful people. Plenty of parking and no creepy dark hallways. Definitely a 5-star stay, would come back in a heartbeat.
