Holiday Inn Express & Suites Terrell by IHG

First off, my family and I came here to stay because we have to attend a family member's funeral. Initially, everything was great. A little dated, but I don't care about interior design much. It's a hotel. I've stayed in Super 8s and Motel 6s worse than this place, so the complaints about dated furniture are laughable from other reviewers here that are most likely out of towners. If you want fancy, go to Dallas or other popular areas in TX if you're vacationing from somewhere else. The mattress will kill your back though, so it's no fancy shmancy mattress. More like the old one your parents got in the 80s or 90s with zero support and its like sleeping on wooden particle board. I was raised here in Terrell, so I find this place homey. I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Terrell and had a less than desirable experience. We booked two rooms, one queen suite and one queen standard room. I’ll start with the positives. There aren’t many, but the staff was incredibly kind and gracious. The two front desk attendants I talked to were both very nice, helpful, and kind. The lady working the breakfast area was also extremely friendly. So in terms of staff, I was happy with my experience. Aside from that, everything else was not great. When we arrived that night, it was about 10 p.m. Part of my group got there closer to midnight. The elevators were not working, and our rooms were on the fourth floor, so we had to haul all of our luggage up four flights of stairs. I get that it was late at night and hard to get someone

I didn't use but has a Jacuzzi and indoor pool. What is cool is it's within walking distance of a nice Mexican restaurant and I hop. Also a small shopping center. The TV has a nice position in the room. Only downside for me was in the bathroom the grout for the floor tiles is disappearing

I find my opinions divided on the Holiday Inn Express in Terrell. The staff were friendly and the place is kept immaculately clean. However, maintenance on this hotel is lacking and it shows. Half of the lights in the parking lot were either burned out or malfunctioning, which causes a bit of a strobe light effect. This isn’t a helpful circumstance if it is shining in your room’s window. There were many areas of peeling paint and hastily repaired areas on the walls and ceilings. The carpet is well-worn and could use replacement. The WiFi also is terrible here; it barely works and goes out often. On the positive side, the included breakfast is quite nice, with a multitude of options. If I could give them a negative star I would. Front desk staff and manager need to get their facts straight before harassing a person with a service dog. On the hotel side it’s old and outdated rooms. The bed is very lumpy and uncomfortable. The breakfast was better than some other hotels.
