Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cedar Rapids-I-380 @ 33rd Ave by IHG

For at least 10 minutes we waited at the front desk to check in. Nobody was there; no note. Finally a lady came from the back, said something about the restroom, and looked at me like I was inconveniencing her by being there. We noticed the same thing next morning at breakfast; no staff around, the phone just ringing and ringing. The room itself was fine and clean. By the time we came for breakfast at 9:30 (it closed at 10), much was gone, although they restocked a few items after a while. It was absolutely the right price though. It was fine overall for what we needed.

Our room was very clean, and the AC worked well. The bathroom seemed like it maybe was cleaned quickly, a previous guests hairs were left in the shower. Otherwise, it was a great stay, room wise. The pool and hot tub are in need of a deep clean. The breakfast was great! We tried the biscuits and gravy and it was actually probably some of the best I've had.

Pros: -Located close to the convention center, minimal drive. -Front desk was super nice! Very friendly, very patient -Hot breakfast available -Beds were decent, pillow options Cons: -Cleaning staff listens to stuff while working. While I have no issues with that normally, they did not use headphones and had the volume way up. -Had a joining room, my neighbors who apparently checked in about 10:30pm our 2nd night were so loud. -I know, I know, "It's a hotel, what do you expect?" Mild quietness? It was so loud. Doors, people talking, luggage rolling, train...there is minimal noise insulation. -Located near industrial park...the trains were loud. Neutrals: -The exhaust fan apparently hadn't been used in a while....the sound it made for the first minute was questionable. -Bathroom door only

We were there for 2 nights, due to a relative's funeral. Sad occasion, but the hotel was a safe haven, for the tired and emotionally spent. They serve hot beverages 24 hours a day and breakfast each morning; and breakfast does have different components on weekends, then what was offered during the week. The bed was comfortable, clean and their toiletries were adequately stocked too. Management was very cordial and polite; they inquired about our stay and if there was anything they could do to enhance our experience. We really felt taken care of and appreciated being looked after during our stay. I will stay at that location every time I'm in the area.

One of the worst Holiday Inn hotels I've ever stayed in. The bathrooms are disgusting and old, all uncomfortable, and the bathtub and towels are stained. Not to mention, I came here to relax, and from 7 am onwards there was noise everywhere. Even the cleaning staff yell, play music at full volume, and slam the doors of every room they enter to clean. DO NOT STAY HERE, IT'S HORRIBLE!!
