Residence Inn by Marriott Cedar Rapids

Staff was super nice, hard working & I saw signs in the elevator asking for good reviews. Whoever owns this place is scraping EVERY last dime from it. Staff works really hard, but I can’t recommend this hotel. In our 2-bdrm (204) room there were tears & holes in most of the upholstery. Stains upon stains. The wear, tear & grime… ugh, this took TIME. We needed to use the pullout. The mattress was thin & concave. Found the blood stain when we turned the mattress over but weren’t shocked given the condition of the other furnishings. The carpet was a bigger crime scene!! No words. Dishes & utensils? Dirty & few. Hair & more, especially near doors & stationary furniture. Larger debris in corners & closet(s) tracks along the floor. Toilet? Clogged. Again, thanks to staff for bringing a plunger.

Called the day before to ask if early check in was available. I was told yes and I could check in at 1230, the room would be ready. When I get there, its not ready. They said it was the last room they had to clean yet. So we had to use the lobby bathroom to get ready for a wedding we had to be to in an hour. (Which we would have just worn if we weren't told we could have the room early) Their inaccurate information made for a rough trip

This place should have been torn down rather than refurbished. Start with the parking lot - narrow road way, be careful when you meet a car. One car usually pulls off to one side to let the other pass. The hallways are some thing reminiscent of a third world hotel. The number of outlets and usb connectors are few. Two of the three outlets on the desk already have hotel items plugged in. Not one usb port on the desk. No usb ports on either side of the bed. One waste basket in the entire suite. The one positive is the rooms have been refurbished but the project was not well thought out.||You do NOT want to stay here.

Positive: The price and location were perfect for us. Negative: The front desk staff were always hiding it seemed. Like you had to ring the bell and wait for help from the front desk staff. Anyone could have walked in that hotel at anytime and hung out in the lobby eating/drinking the free stuff and watching tv.

Driving to Door County Wisconsin from Colorado in a 3-day short drive/day trip. Second night was at this hotel and stayed again on the way home. Very dog friendly which is a must for us, and we felt very welcome. Full refrigerator was very nice to keep the haul of cheese we brought back. The night clerk that checked us in named Jessica was one of the friendliest people we've encountered at our many Marriott stays. Her demeanor is genuine and not just the usual customer service routine. She checked us in again on our return stay with the same charm. Welcomes like this make travelling so much better; thank you Jessica. I gave her a one-day old Wisconsin cherry Kringle because I didn't think it would make it home, and I would rather give it to her than waste it. The rest of the staff we encou
