Holiday Inn Express Olean by IHG

My son and I came to Olean and Orchard Park for a long weekend. We were greeted by David and Kaden. They were wonderful and very helpful. Marie was great too. We had a pleasant stay. Next time we come back to Olean, we will definitely be staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Thank you for being so great!

Each member of the staff I encountered was very nice. Jess at the front desk is a jewel; welcoming, kind, very good at her job! The woman staffing breakfast was also very nice. Areas for improvement at this property: 1. Maintenance. The door to room 107 is significantly screwed up to the point it is difficult to open and close. It is clear from the damage to the door jam, it has been this way for a long time. Consider fixing it. 2. Most of the breakfast items (eggs, omelets, bacon) were all way overcooked and rubbery. No reason at all to overcook everything. I've stayed at plenty of hotels that served soft, moist, fluffy eggs. Its not that difficult. 3. Desk chair in room 107 has a CONSTANT grating, squeak / squeal. Please, for the love of peanut butter, apply lubricant or replace the

Just about everything at this property was great. The breakfast was very well maintained and the attendant even came table-to-table to make sure everyone had what they needed. Best of all, the pancake machine worked, and they don't at many HHI locations.||Indoor pool was fantastic. The temperature was just right and very clean. The outdoor sitting area was literally like sitting in your home back yard. So quiet and peaceful for being in downtown Olean. Also a ton of charging stations if you drive a hybrid or electric vehicle. ||Hotel and our room was very clean. Our only issue is that the molding along the floor in the bedroom was loose and coming off, and behind it was a lot of water damage including what looked like black mold. A caveat: an employee told me this hotel is due to undergo renovation later this year. IMO, it needs to be sooner than later! We were in Room 217. First problem was the pressure toilet. If it hasn't been pressurized in the last 12 hours, it won't flush properly. I brought this to the attention of the front desk (thinking it was a flushing problem) and they sent someone up immediately. The maintenance man explained the problem. There was a constant leak from the shower faucet and the pressure was not good (probably why they have pressure toilets!) The bedside plugs nearest the window were loose and my charger couldn't keep a charge unless I kept it pushed in solidly with the telephone. USB ports were broken. There's a large seam in the middle of the ceiling that looks to be separating.

Good people is the only thing that made this stay ok. The hotel is OLD, the bathroom sink faucet was broken and only dispensed HOT water. The shower had mold around the edges and paint was peeling from the ceiling of the shower. The carpet square edges were coming up. The bed was way to soft. Breakfast was NOT GOOD but the Breakfast Host was friendly. Scrambled eggs were stale (dark edges) and the omelets were old and cold. The cereal was fine. One of the poorer stays at a Holiday Inn Express.
