Hilton Garden Inn Columbia Downtown

Upon arrival I struggled to find parking and the fact the hotel is conjoined to the hotel next door only caused further confusion. I arrived to total chaos in the lobby and reception but was thankfully able to bypass by checking in online. I later had to go back to get a parking pass. There were 2 people in line in front of me and I waited nearly 15 minutes and the line hadn't moved. I went to a separate counter and explained I only needed a parking pass and he was happy to help. Later I came back to the room to sleep and I can confidently say I've never slept in a room that noisy. It wasn't hallway noise but the noise from the street. My breakfast experience was A+ customer service. Mrs. Lovely made sure the tables and counters were clean and each member in my family was greeted with a smile, good morning, and warm welcome. The food stayed warm and refilled. She is definitely an asset to the Hilton organization.

Positive: Front desk hostess was the nicest person on Earth. Room was super clean and smelled great. Bed and pillows were super comfy. Negative: Bar closed early on weekend night. Should be open later as I would have spent some money.

Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown Columbia, SC was unfortunately mixed. Our experience at the front desk with Destiny was extremely disappointing. She was rude, dismissive, and lacked the professionalism you would expect from someone representing the Hilton brand. Customer service should be welcoming and solution-focused, and that was not our experience. I strongly recommend additional training for front desk staff. That being said, housekeeping especially Ms. Erica was outstanding. She was professional, attentive, and truly cared about my family’s comfort during our stay. Her kindness and work ethic did not go unnoticed. She is a true asset to this hotel. One employee hurt the experience, but another absolutely elevated it.

Hotel was fine as far as room, cleanliness, comfort & location. However the check-in experience was so horrendous, I will probably never stay here again. We arrived well after check-in time of 3:00 and could not get into a room until after 6:00. This caused us to be late for an event we were attending. The lobby was full of customers like us, waiting hours for a room. The next day as I walked through the lobby around 5;00, I saw it full of frustrated customers like we had been the day before - waiting for their rooms.
