Heritage Hotel and Suites

We ended up booking this place, but due to some car troubles we arrived late. I had called previously knowing that I would be late on arrival and making sure my reservation that I prepaid for would still be available. I was told by the receptionist that the room would be available upon my late arrival. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk to check us in and an attendant who helps maintain the property showed up. Apparently, the reservation was cancelled which made me upset. They had to call around and ask to instruct the attendant how to find my previous reservation and get me checked into a room, which took a while. The room was fine. It was nice they had a complimentary destination charger which you needed a code for in order to use.

Selected for the destination charge potential. It's a bit touchy... The desk will give you a card with a qr code, which then must be scanned by the charger, not your phone. Scan must be the correct distance from the charger - pressing against the charger does not work. J1772 connector, level 2. Room was mostly clean. Bathroom floors a bit sticky, e.g. TV has connection to Netflix and more but you must use your own account. Decent coffee in room. Desk clerk was very helpful, especially with the charger.

I checked in and got my luggage up to the room. The keys didn’t work. So I had to take my luggage back down to the desk. He gives me keys that work. I walk into the room, and it smells like something died in there. I thought maybe someone left old meat in the fridge, so I checked. It was empty, but it was definitely the source of the odor. I called the front desk. He said he’d bring me keys to another room. I waited 10 minutes in the hallway (couldn’t tolerate the room odor). He never brought the keys. It was an interesting 10 minutes, though. I saw lots of sketchy looking people coming and going. Maybe the state puts homeless people here? I went down to the front desk and told him I would go to another hotel and asked for a refund. To his credit, the clerk said no problem.

Advertised as “pets welcome” + “pet friendly.” Upon arrival, we were given a surprise pet charge of $70/per night for one well-behaved 35 lb. dog. The manager claimed that all hotels in the area charge a similar amount. When we told them no, that’s very high, the response was “we want fewer dogs/pets staying here.” (Again, advertised as pet friendly.) Also, showers were cold, mentioned this to staff multiple times, and the last time the manager hung up on us (they are never at desk; you have to use communal phone to try to get a staff member to front desk). The staff member on the phone refused to come to the front desk when asked for assistance with the cold shower. Spacious, clean rooms with fridge and microwave. Friendly, helpful staff and responsive service. Indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center offer great value. Convenient location off Interstate 94.
