Heads In Beds

Great spot! John, the owner very friendly. Nice guests too. Location convenient to Gore and North Creek. Warm despite -10 degree nights. Reserved for 1 night and stayed 5! Historic house is a plus too! Wish I had know about this place sooner.

This was the exact kind of lodging I needed while passing through upstate to northern Vermont this weekend: quiet, not to far from the highway, and very, very affordable. If I visit North Creek again, I want to return here. The only thing I would suggest would be supplying more towels in the bathroom, even if for an additional fee.

Yes, this hostel was a steal of a deal, however, there are things to consider if you want to go through with staying at Heads in Beds: 1) One of owners (wife) smokes cigarettes in the basement. The smoke makes its way into the rest of the house, making it difficult to breathe & sticks to your hair & clothing. 2) The guy renting the room across the hallway got up numerous times nightly to use the restroom…the floors are so creaky that it woke me up each time. 3) There is no lock on door, so that either the owner or other guests could enter your room when you aren’t there & help themselves. 4) There were cobwebs & spiders. Sink in bedroom still had someone else’s hair in it & grime behind faucets. Floor in bathroom was filthy all around border. Shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned.

An excellent and affordable place to stay in the Adirondacks. Second time coming here. This time I stay five days skiing and working remotely (Martina's room has a nice desk). As someone who has stayed in over 50 hostels, I really appreciate having a place like Heads in Beds here. Expect very basic amenities but you get your own room which is not true at most hostels. The owner John is very nice. Location can't be beat.

I came to Heads in Beds this past summer and had a great experience. Having stayed in hostels before, I can say that my stay was much more comfortable and pleasant than the standard: The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Also, the owners are friendly and honest people. They were very accommodating in regards to my check in/check out time and were kind enough to mail back to me a couple articles of clothing that I'd forgotten in the room. As an added bonus, there were some cheap and delicious bars/eateries a short walk away. Next time I'm in the area, I hope to stay here!
