Gore Mountain

We stayed at Blue Mountain Lake, about 40 minutes from the mountian. It is cheaper, so the drive isnt too bad for us. This is our 5th year doing this trip and it is always good for us. Weather is touch and go now-a-days, but this year was great. A little windy at the top on day one, but once you got going, you didnt even notice. What we like best about this mountain is the amount of lifts and variations of difficulty. We are Blue squares and green circles, but there are a lot of single and double blacks. The price of food is kind of outragous, but I think it is that way most places, but there is a good variety. The waffle shack at the bottom is great, we do it every year, cost aside, as a tradition. Gore Mountain is a fantastic ski area. It has a great variety of trails with a number of great options for all level skiers. Every time I go somewhere else in the East I realize just how amazing Gore Mountain is. The lifts are quick and the lines are rarely long, especially compared to elsewhere. Staff and your fellow skiers are friendly. Highly recommended!

Layout of the mountain can feel confusing at first but is not a big deal. Snowboarders, mind the flats. We got blue skies which allowed for fantastic views of the Adirondacks. Trails feel good and the chalets are well maintained.

Skiing here is super fun! Weekends are bumpin’ though, so best to go on the week days. Even when it’s busy though, you get through the lines quickly and the staff are really amazing and friendly. The mountain is really fun too. Once you get up the lifts, you have many options to avoid clusters of folks. Fun fun. Lots of trails to ski. As for the food… restaurant leaves a bit to be desired. The nachos, which used to be my go-to, have left me disappointed a time or two recently. Consistently kinda cold and not hot. Last time, the chicken was very dry-like jerky, but the wait staff comped me the price of the chicken. Beer is delicious and good selections.

Excellent local ski resort with a nice variety of ski runs for all skill levels. The brand new Station Lodge is beautiful and fully featured, with a bar/restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended.
