Harvard Hotel and Lodge

We spent one night at the Harvard Hotel and it was very good. The check-in process is very simple and the owners are very accommodating! The restaurant was open and the room was clean. Yes, the bathtub had seen better days, but it was clean and just showed signs of wear and tear. I really liked the atmosphere and the place was very quiet. A great place to stay when visiting Fort Davis.

We stayed here because we wanted to explore the Davis Mountains. Location was great for that. The rooms are okay. The shower faucets could really stand to be upgraded. Took us awhile to figure out how to get hot water. The room description said balcony view. No, we had a building view. We still enjoyed the room despite all of this. When booking it never mentioned that it was a person working remotely. Not a big deal till we had some questions and tried to get some answers via text. Never received a response. Thank goodness it wasn’t a major issue because I don’t know if anyone would have ever gotten back with us. I do hope they work out some is these issues because I can tell it was a nice hotel at one point.

My wife and three young grandsons stayed at the Harvard Hotel's other site at the Sproul Ranch location for four, wonderful days and nights. The boys were used to video games and kid attractions, but what they got was ranch life with views to die for. The ranch had a nice pool, small driving range, and animals all around. It was 2 miles from the main road but was easily assessable. McDonald Observatory was 9 miles away, Ft. Davis was 6 miles away. Close to Alpine and Balmorhea State Park withe the largest fresh water pool I have ever seen. I would highly recommend it for relaxation and piece and quiet.

Great location. Great service. Loved our room. The only disappointment was that we weren’t told that the restaurant and bar downstairs was out of business. We booked the hotel for that main reason. One of the rooms next door also had this huge dog and I’m allergic to large dog hair. It’s not the hotels fault of course, I hope they get charged big time for breaking the rules. Our stay was comfortable, private, and very quiet. Everything about our stay was amazing! The pool on the pictures is not in this building or behind it. Just FYI

Nice rustic-look place, but as many comment, the amenities are a 15 minute drive away, up a dirt road. They are nice though. My shower fell to pieces and hit me on the back of the head. The onsite restaurant is still closed, but looks like it may reopen when they can staff it. And boy, do the carpets need cleaning.
