Hampton Inn & Suites Opelika - I-85 - Auburn Area

There is a reason this place has so many one stars and has a 3.9 rating, this place is the pits. I am a Gold Member and booked a room specifically a non connevting room. The front desk guy CJ who was either prejuidice or rude argued with me that i was just a regular member and I couldnt get water or a snack because ineasnt Gold.I told him I was and to check my number, he rudely states i am a regular member. I had to go to my car to get my other phone and show him on the app, he didnt apologize. Next issue was connecting room, he acted like he looked in the computer and told me it wasnt connecting, well low and behold it was and a handicap room. When i went down stairs and informed, he stated thats what you asked for, I was like whatt no i didnt. He kept going back& forth with me and i told

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly, they even texted to ensure everything was satisfactory. Two little issues this was a gameday weekend so they jacked up the prices to $500 night and housekeeping did not empty all of the trash (we stayed two nights). Also, it did not affect us because we were on the first floor but the elevator was out of order. I would have been mad paying that much and have to walk upstairs with my luggage. The staff was friendly and helpful even texting me three times during my stay to ensure everything was alright.

Although Hampton Inn‘s are traditionally one of my favorite hotels to stay in (I mean it’s in the name, lol), this particular one will not be getting my business again. First things first though, Robyn at the front desk was awesome. Can’t say enough good things about her. However, on our first night there, we were given a room which I did not request because the manager decided we deserved a different room all on her own. (Who does that!) We were given a room that was decent by most standards, but the issues arose once in the bathroom. There was black mold on the ceiling above the shower, everywhere, and the overall bathroom “feel” was grungy. You know the feeling when you can tell it just isn’t clean or cared for. BEYOND disturbed to say the least. Found a bug on the pillow of my bed during my stay. Just a stink bug so no big deal, but I decided to do an extremely thorough bed check just incase there was another. I had done a sheet check and mattress check before, but clearly should have ripped off the entire comforter because what I found underneath quite literally made me gag. Brown, crusted, uncleaned, and seemingly fresh stains from the stay before me. I’ll go ahead and let you all guess what those stains could be! I’ll go ahead and attach the photo for the owner to see 😊 Worst part is that the side of the comforter that was disgustingly stained was coincidentally flipped around and hidden above the sheets towards the foot of the bed where you would not notice unless you tore the bed apart like

No worries. The negative issues previously posted seem to have been resolved. The elevator is repaired, the front desk could not have been more helpful and the room, bathroom and hotel were clean. Breakfast was good. The location is convenient, located near restaurants and malls. I felt the location was safe. 4 stars are because the window shade was jury rigged, unable to be opened, and the room was dark. All things considered, it’s a good Hampton- reasonably priced, adequate service's . Very satisfied. Nov 8, 2025
