Gunn House Hotel

This is the Winchester Mystery House of Sonora - really neat history as far as how it was expanded with additions, and kind of hilarious to find your way around the multiple stairways and floors. We were in room 11 - reputed to be haunted, facing the street. There was a lot of road noise but no noise from neighbors (ear plugs helped with street noise). Room features like the cute door windows that opened up, the short closet door, and period decor were fun! It feels like the front part of the room slants toward the street and the bathroom/closet slant back towards the interior - very like many other historical buildings we've stayed in. Beds were comfortable enough. Room heater was a funny fake fire thing but temperature was comfortable enough. We had no heebie jeebies or ghost experiences

Positive: 1. Electric outlets were not working.2. Entrance door was of glass and the curtain was shear so that one could see in the room.3. Window shades did not cover the entire window.4. Breakfast open 20 minutes late. Food did not taste good. Negative: 1. Exterior of the building was in need of repair.2. There was no soap nor shampoo in the room.3. No microwave.4. Wallpaper was pealing at the seams.

Well, I don't know where to start. The bedsheets were dirty, the bathroom towels were also dirty, and the person in charge had no manners and was very rude. The shower wasn't even working properly, and I had to dry myself with my shirt since the towels were dirty. And for the manager that replied, no, I am not reviewing the wrong hotel; this is the right one! Please do better!

The room was a good size (second floor king bed) but the room was dirty. Under the couch hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The white bedspread was stained and had burn holes. The breakfast was a bunch of cakes, a waffle maker, bread/bagels, and an egg casserole, there were no coffee cups when we went in. The downspout outside our door wasn’t attached, it made an awful sound as the rain poured down so we got little sleep. I set a bag with a sticky closure on the couch and the sticky part picked up so much hair and dust. We met a fellow traveler who said his room was flooded and mud and water were pouring in under the bathroom wall. He also said the pool certificate hadn’t been renewed for 4 years- I don’t know, but the pool was green. |The staff was nice enough. It just needs some attenti

I'd always wanted to stay here during our visits, and this time they had a great rate on a room. The building it's self is a beautiful old building, and the rooms are decorated to reflect that. Located in the heart downtown, it's with in walking distance of food coffee and shopping. Our room was clean and well maintained with basic amenities, such as soap, tp, towels. Bed was comfortable. Definitely a great place for the price.
