Grandfather Campground

2 nights. Cabin was cute and the bed was comfy but it was very cramped and there was much water damage from the shower. The floorboards were saturated and it was coming out into the living area and it smelled very musty. There are mostly long term residents around where we stayed. That was fine, though. Overall it is very run down. We looked for signs and didnt see any on arrival, but My husband got annihilated with what we assume are bed big bites. At least 25. Didnt start swelling and itching til we were on the way home. Awful AWFUL experience and i can only hope we didnt accidentally bring that nastiness into our house. Never EVER again.

Perfect spot to get to all the roads on a motorcycle. That’s where the good part ends. Rented a cabin right across from the washrooms. The cabin was swept and dirt and broom left in a corner. Mirror filthy. You have to bring your own sheets. That’s fine. But the mattress cover was so disgustingly stained. When it’s that bad, replace it. We checked in Thursday at 4:30pm. When we left Monday morning the washrooms were never touched. Not once! No toilet paper. Paper towel everywhere as the garbage was full. Shower was disgusting. We brought it up twice to the gentleman in the office as he grabbed his phone and said he was texting the maintenance guy. Nobody ever showed up.1 toilet was plugged from fecal and menstrual matter that whole weekend. They also closed early the Saturday as we went

Sites were small ,and the gravel was not level. The grounds were not kept, weeds everywhere. We couldn’t see the creek because the weeds were so tall. Our site ,especially around the fire pit was not level ,and there was old mulch with weeds so tall you felt like a snake could crawl out anytime. They definitely didn’t check the sites after each visit ,because there was a big wad of hair on the ground in the mud right outside of our camper. (Nasty!) The only plus to this place was the fact it was close to all attractions.

The campground itself is lovely and pretty conveniently located. However, I experienced a number of disappointments. First, the staff at registration when I arrived were not friendly or welcoming. The bathrooms were never serviced during my stay. There was a party with loud music blaring for a couple hours around midnight that no one addressed. I expect better attention to things like unsanitary conditions and midnight revelry when paying to stay in a private campground. Otherwise, the sites and grounds were nice. I hope other people have better experiences during their time at Grandfather Campground.

We feel this is more of an rv park than a campground. Not much space or privacy between rv campsites and the highway is very close and noisy. Nice place, run well, but not a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The river behind our campsite (A11) at the front of the campground is nice, but the highway noise is pretty constant. Convenient location if you need a place to stay in this area.
