We have stayed here a couple of times. Once for a funeral and then for a New Year’s Eve Sing. Always so friendly and nice to us. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Gandy Motor Lodge in Perry, FL is nothing short of a nightmare. The rooms are filthy—stained carpets, mold in the bathroom, and an overwhelming stench of mildew that hits you the moment you walk in. The bedding looked like it hadn’t been washed in weeks, with visible dirt and questionable stains. Safety is another major concern. The door locks were barely functional, and the windows didn’t close properly, making me feel uneasy the entire night. The parking lot was poorly lit, and I saw several shady characters hanging around, which only added to my discomfort. To top it off, the staff was rude and unhelpful. The owner is nice and communicative. I enjoyed my stay here. It’s affordable for what it is, I enjoy the simplicity and older style of the rooms. Really makes you feel like you’re in the movie Grease except you’re alone in a motel room. They have pet friendly rooms with no extra charge, and that was a relief. Some higher end hotels will have $100 pet fees for the pet friendly rooms, which makes absolutely no sense. This place worked out well and was a blessing to run into during my travels

After having been quoted one price at Econo Lodge bit told almost double the price when we got there, we went across the road to Gandy. His price was the same as we were quoted at Econo Lodge, so having read the reviews and totally wore out, we took a room. Good move on our part. Good price, clean big room,cold a/c and the owner even offered to order out for us if we had not eaten. Very friendly staff. Overall, a great value for an older motel that's very clean. On our trips from NW panhandle to South Florida in the future, we will stay at the Gandy!
