Gallus Stadium Park Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

No amenities. No coffee maker in the rooms. The only coffee available is instant. The room smelled strongly of old cigarette smoke. The air conditioner was held together with electrical tape. But the bed was clean and comfortable after an 18 hour drive. The staff was polite and apologetic.

Booked a room here for a stopover on a road trip. Front desk people seemed alright, was downhill from there. I would probably have overlooked the whistling toilet, the unclean bedding, uneven floors as the cost of value. I could have ignored the fact that they had Kleenex in lieu of actual paper towels for the microwavable sausage biscuit that passed as protein. I would probably have not even spoke up about the microwave turntable being covered in little bits of greasy Kleenex of questionable origin that was the inevitable result of aforementioned cost sitting measure. What I could not excuse, and what ultimately inspired this review was the the coffee( hot water situation. The coffee/hot water machine had sign saying "out of order sorry". Booked this with my fiance. We needed a stay for one night due to a concert. This hotel is extremely dirty. The outside of the building looks run down and dirty. The area is around multiple abandoned places. I wanted to leave so bad. First walking inside the staff is nice. They try to make a cute welcoming area with Halloween decor. Walking to our room the hallways are nasty. Opening our room door it immediately smelled like pee covered up with musty cleaning products like they cleaned with a dirty rag. The bathroom had moldy walls and ceiling covered up with paint. Best down walls and stains. Our window was dirty looking out it our room was right outside the trash. There was trash all outside by our window literally right next to it. I did not feel one bit clean in there even took a showe

We booked this lodge because it looked like a great value. I can understand at these prices one should not expect anything fancy. That said if a place advertises breakfast included, I expect coffee as part of that. I was willing to overlook the stains on the bed, the leaky toilet valves and crusty microwave at breakfast area, but when I saw that the coffee and hot water machine at breakfast was out of order I could no longer remain silent. Coffee / Tea are an important part of a complete breakfast and if breakfast is advertised as included in the price I fully expect warm, caffeinated beverages to be available when I wake up. While this is not a five star hotel and is in need of updating and new flooring, the location is amazing if you are in town for college related activities and functions as we were and the prices are good. The staff was warm and welcoming and responsive when we needed anything. We never felt unsafe as women traveling and the morning opportunity for breakfast before we explored the city was a plus. Because of the location and people we met, my hope would be that the owners would do a deep cleaning and make the needed updates.
