Fort Welikit Family Campground

This is my second time here in the same spot. The bathrooms are clean and staff is friendly. The crowd is quiet and respectful. There is laundry on site, firewood for sale, and I believe they sell propane. The wildlife is everywhere. I have had deer, turkey, and rabbit within 50 feet. Awesome place!

We stayed for a week October 2025. Our truck broke down on the way, we were not sure if we had to cancel. The owner was extremely accommodating and fair. This campground is perfect. Mature trees and flat spots. Uber clean private shower bathrooms. We rode electric bikes, close to downtown Custer and the Michelson trail goes as long as you can. Close to the popular tourist spots. Bike ride into downtown Custer with eating spots and grocery store. Owners are engaged and work hard to keep it clean. He’s also a Vet- so many thanks for his service to our country. We will be back for sure.

We stayed in tents sites 89 & 90 for nine nights and enjoyed our stay. The sites were spacious and grassy with a covered picnic table. The tent loop was very quiet during our stay and overall the whole campground was a very peaceful one. The bathrooms were clean and private. We appreciated the laundry facilities on site. We were able to get quarters to use to do laundry from the camp store without issues. Cell service was very good (AT&T) and we never attempted to connect to WiFi. Fort Welikit is close to Custer State Park and made the perfect home base for our trip to the Black Hills. If we ever return we will stay here again.

Great people running it! Super helpful and friendly. The park is very well maintained, bathrooms are cleaned every day and are we'll stocked. The campground is very quiet and clean. We stayed in one of their teepees it was a cool experience! We slept 6 people in it comfortably!

Well kept, well managed campground just outside Custer SD. Close to so many attractions but calm and quiet. Clean, private shower restrooms. Very nice. WeLovedIt!
