Flanners Beach Campground

Small and quiet. Clean. Beach access open. Showers barely get warm but are private. Bathrooms are clean. Price is decent for electric hookups at 25 a night. Careful on the trails because locals don't leash their dogs. Awesome campground though.

Most of the sites are fairly private with trees&understory between each spot. There are three private showers, one private bathroom, & then women's&men's bathrooms with several stalls. Tons of hiking trails, poison ivy lurks in quite a few places, but that naturally comes with the area, just be aware. The beach must have been really nice back in the day for all the negative reviews; the parts you're allowed to access area still really awesome, our kiddo had a blast in the sand, checking out the cypress trees & the old stumps, we saw folk fishing, & just tons of wildlife. I know it was a past storm/ hurricane that brought on the closure of the main beach area, it looks like it's not a clean up issue, it's that the bank is eroding, that's the danger. This was once my favorite campground. Unfortunately, it is no longer the peaceful environment it once was. There is no ranger presence. Noise often goes on until 2/3am. New host was ineffective in curbing the noise. He didn’t even bother going over a second time when the disturbance continued for hours into the night. Alcohol consumption that goes unchecked contributes to the problem. Limit of 6 persons per campsite yet there were approximately 20 in the site next to me. In the end, I had to call the Sheriff’s department so that I could safely hook up my camper and leave.

It’s very sad to see what once was a real nice camp ground go down hill so bad. We have came to this area over the years and have gradually watched Flanners Beach Camp ground go down. This time was no difference. But this time kinda sealed the deal. The water line and hose that you fill your fresh water tank was leaking bad so I got a good showers while filling up my fresh water tank. Heck I got tired of trying to fill up I just stopped and took what I had. ….. wait a minuet this line was leaking a year ago never was fixed. |The camp sites for RVs are almost totally gravel less. Sites are spacious most have electric. There are tent sites that are primitive. Dump station and water fill up is just outside of campground. The campground is secluded, quiet and very relaxing. Located just off the new river. There is a trail for water access. Hosts are professional, friendly and helpful.
