Field Guide Lodge

​I feel completely catfished by the online photos of this property. For $330 a night, I expected a professional, comfortable stay; instead, I’ve stayed in one-star hotels that were better maintained than this. ​ The "luxury" ends at the lobby. Our room door had visible light leaking through all four sides, which meant we heard every single footstep and whisper in the hallway. To make matters worse, there was a mysterious clicking noise in the room every two minutes that made sleep nearly impossible. ​ The bathroom was claustrophobic. At 6’ tall, I was the same height as the shower head, and the 7’ ceiling felt incredibly low. You can literally touch all four walls while standing in the middle. Worse, the sink was angled incorrectly, causing water to pool at the front edge instead of draini

This was our second stay at the Field Guide Lodge, and we are planning to return in March. We travel there specifically because we are attending concerts in Apres Only, their lounge. For anyone doing that, snagging a room at this lodging allows you to park your car and leave aside all worries about driving anywhere after the show, alcohol or not. The rooms we have stayed in are relatively compact (especially the bathrooms) but fully serviceable, very cozy and clean. They give you a sweet bag of locally sourced treats to kick off your stay. The bar has full service and some "lodge" type food; the morning breakfast varies and is included. If you don't like that day's offering, there are plenty of other local options! Likely wouldn’t stay here again. Decent, but leaves a lot to be desired other than the lounge areas. The hot tub is out of service. This isn’t advertised or disclosed when booking. They offer you to go to a neighboring hotel and use their amenities. Disappointing after a day of skiing. The pros: the first floor lounge areas had a chill mountain vibe. Easy to relax and appreciated the warm fire. Nice location, walkable to some restaurants. The cons: We upgraded to a king room. Expected an upgraded room to be much nicer than it was. It was small, not a lot of room for luggage and ski equipment. There was no closet and only a few hooks for hanging. Tons of open wall space in the bathroom but only one small hook to hang a towel. We absolutely loved our stay at Field Guide Lodge! From the start, the check-in and check-out process was fast, easy, and stress-free. The rooms were extremely clean and cozy, and housekeeping did a fantastic job throughout our stay. The free breakfast felt like a warm, cooked Sunday morning spread and was the perfect way to start each day. We also loved the inviting common areas — there were plenty of board games and card games to enjoy while hanging out, and being able to schedule time in the hot tub was such a great bonus. The lodge itself is an awesome place to relax and spend time while still being close to everything Stowe has to offer. The live music at night was a great touch, and we really appreciated the polite, thoughtful messages letting us know what was happening and checkin
