Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Joliet North/Plainfield

For a smaller hotel, this place really does provide a wonderful stay! The rooms are clean, amenities are significant, the maid service is top quality, and the front desk is very helpful! In particular, Beth at the front desk is who really brings the place together! There was an issue with the dryer one night, and Beth allowed me to use the hotel’s industry dryer, as well as refunded me the money I had already put into the dryer! She is always friendly, chatty, and in a good mood. She is also the only one who bakes cookies at the front desk for everyone to have! Give that woman a promotion! Overall, for a small side hotel, this hotel provides great value through its rooms, amenities, an outstanding customer service!

When we arrived, we were told the hotel was oversold & they didn't have the type of room we had booked. We were able to get into a different room for the first night. |Took a swim in the slightly chilly pool & enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.|Rose was able to get us moved to the room we wanted after the first night. The breakfast was pretty decent & the staff were pleasant.|We were able to get a late checkout, which will reduce the morning stress. |Katie, the night desk clerk was especially helpful & very sweet.|Despite the initial struggle, we would probably stay here again.

The rooms were affordable and clean, however the heat/AC unit in our room rattled and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time and made the room smell incredibly musty. The breakfast was good but the woman who stocked the Continental breakfast never stopped being annoyed at stocking the food. She sighed and rolled her eyes anytime something needed to be refilled (which she did keep stocked without prompts from guests). She needs a vacation or a different role because she looked absolutely miserable both mornings whenever I came down for breakfast or coffee.

There's not much to say about this property, as it was average. The room was clean and everything worked. We felt safe. The pool was closed- due to COVID, even though another FFI that we stayed at on this trip had their pool open. Breakfast was average and everything was packaged, again due to COVID, but 2 other FFIs we stayed at had full breakfast. It was fine for our purpose, which was a clean bed and clean shower for the night.

This hotel exceeds what you would expect for a two star hotel. The room was basic but clean and very usable. The desk chair was comfortable and the TV was small but good. The people here are all very nice, very friendly and helpful. The service made all the difference. I would stay here again.
