Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Jacksonville Orange Park

Upon entering the hotel it seemed to be nice. The lobby was clean, the staff at the front door were nice. We got our room which was on the 3rd floor, no big deal. When we got off the elevator we saw that half of our floor was not in use and under construction. Something we were not aware of nor notified about. Whatever, moving on no big deal. When we got into the room the room was extremely warm considering it was 80 something degrees outside. We cut on the air and allowed it to cool down. It never did! We left and came back after about an hour or so and the room never made it to a comfortable temperature. Me and my husband had activities scheduled and paid for that we couldn’t cancel and we were only staying one night so we didn’t even worry about changing rooms. However, the icing on the

Positive: Very friendly and professional staff, especially the lady at the breakfast area / kitchen was very custoer friendly and professional and provided an outstanding service with a smile on her face. Negative: The light bulb on the reading desk did not work. The staff agreed to get it replaced the next day.

I selected this hotel for the hot tub and pool.  The hot tub was no longer there.  The pool was small and there were no lounge chairs.  Room was very dark.  Needed higher voltage light bulbs.  Hotel just seemed dated and in need of a make over.  Really surprised because most Marriott properties are better than this. Cleaning staff went above and beyond and were very friendly.

I am a loyal Gold Elite Marriott Bonvoy member (30+ nights/year) who trusts the brand for clean, safe, reliable stays. This Fairfield by Marriott in Orange Park, Jacksonville, FL (Feb 5-6 stay) was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and should not be affiliated with Marriott. Upon arrival, I watched wholesale club supplies being unloaded from a Tesla parked at the guest entrance. The property is severely outdated (feels like the 1970s): worn furnishings, violently rattling elevator (I avoided it after one ride), stained/dirty hallway carpet. My room reeked of heavy bug spray upon entry. Black mold was visible on the ceiling. The bathroom floor was so sticky my shoes stuck to it. Washcloths were abrasive like sandpaper. The AC rattled nonstop all night, making sleep impossible. Breakf

Not that bad. For a one night stay when you are transiting, it's perfectly acceptable and I had no cleanliness issue. No bugs. That's all I ask for that sort of stay. Windows can be opened, which is always a plus for me, Breakfast person was attentionate and front desk very friendly to me. Yes, it is a trip down memory lane and I wouldn't stay here more than one day but otherwise it was not the nightmare I expected when I read all the bad reviews.
