Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Clovis

Needing a quick place to stay, I thought this would be great since it is part of the Marriott family. Little did I realize that nightmare that would ensue during and after my stay. I’ve been trying to get a hold of management for several weeks now, but since they will not return my phone call, I’m gonna go ahead and post my review. First off the front desk, screwed up my reservation and maybe for the wrong night and then charge me for that night without my knowledge. Still fighting that one. When we did get our room for the weekend that we wanted the room that we were given was a complete mess. There was makeup on the wall in the bathroom in the toilet continuously flowed. We made this two-evening reservation through Trip Advisor which may have been our first mistake. At any rate, we checked in at about 4:00 in the afternoon, then because my wife became ill, checked out at 10:00 that evening. Upon checking out, I told the desk clerk the situation and she said she would take care of it, but it would not be posted until the following morning. This did not happen and when the bill came, it was for the full two night stay we had originally planned on. I called the hotel and the clerk on duty said she could not help, but I could talk to the manager. The manager was exceptionally arrogant and rude and insisted that she could do nothing and I should deal with Expedia (the company that I was routed to through Trip Advisor). One very cold weekend of January my husband and I stayed at this facility. After driving from another state we arrived to a cold room wherein the heater didn't work and we were told that maintenance was on duty. Eventually we were moved to another room wherein the refrigerator didn't work. The attendant offered excuse after excuse. The last straw- my husband needed to make a copy of a presentation that he was giving, just to receive yet another excuss, "I'm sorry our computer doesn't work but there is a Office Report up the street." All I can say is that, the name went on before the quality went in." There's a lot of issues that need to be addressed.

I reserved here because of the pool - I was traveling with grandchildren, but it was closed by the state of New Mexico. It's still says its available on the website, it was disappointing. The kids found a pair of men's underwear, a brush and a metal straw in our family room, one of the TVs never worked and the elevator/3rd floor elevator smelled like cigarette smoke for the week I was here. However, when asked, the maid was helpful, the reception staff pleasant and the breakfast service people friendly. I was here for a family event and it was very centrally located for most of what I needed to do. All in all, its not the worst place Ive stayed but also, I expected better of a Marriott owned hotel.
