Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Ashtabula

Stayed here for a work trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower was especially great (excellent water pressure/heat)! Breakfast was also great - lots of options. The turkey sausage and the spinach and feta mini quiche were delicious. I would definitely stay here again if I'm traveling in this area.

Stayed here for the first time after staying at the TownePlace Suites down the road last year. Unfortunately, the walls at this Fairfield are extremely thin. I could hear nearly everything from the room next door. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was decent. During my stay, the room key/lock stopped working and I had to return to the front desk to get it rekeyed. I tried it on the fitness center first and it still didn’t work. The front desk mentioned they’ve been having ongoing issues, and I ultimately had to wait for maintenance to let me back into my room. As a Titanium / Lifetime Platinum Elite member, I requested a late checkout. The front desk initially approved 2 PM, but this was later declined by the GM, despite the hotel appearing slow and housekeeping

This property is extremely easy to access, located just off Interstate 90, and offers ample complimentary on-site parking. A few dining options are available nearby, though you should expect to drive if you’re looking for a broader selection of restaurants or local attractions.||Check-in was a bit slow and somewhat bumpy, but that was the only drawback during my one-night stay. The common areas were modern and well maintained, and the room itself was clean, quiet, and contemporary. Overall, I would stay here again. If you’re in the area or simply passing through, this property is definitely worth considering.

Asked for a room near elevator when we booked ahead online in early evening, but when we got to our room it was as far away from the elevator as possible. Don’t know if that was all that was left at 9:30 when we arrived or what. Didn’t seem very full. Didn’t complain because we didn’t want the hassle of moving our stuff. Also, many Fairfield and Marriott hotels, including this one, now have very low toilets. Might be good for kids, but for older travelers with bad knees who are not otherwise “handicapped,” (which is a sizable part of the travel community) this is a problem as it is hard to get up and down. Taller toilets or routinely putting grab bars in all the bathrooms would make things better.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. I stayed at this location because of an extended power outage at my home. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When I was checking out, they asked if I had power yet, and when I said no, they offered to extend my check out time until later in the afternoon. They did not have to do that and I appreciated the kindness very much. I had interactions with four different staff members and each of them were so nice.
