Emerald Bay Lodge

My job requires me to work in S. Lake Tahoe every other week. This is where my employer makes my accommodations. I've never had a bad experience. In fact I look forward to knowing that I'm going to receive excellent customer service. The entire staff goes above and beyond to accommodate you. Cody and Cassie take alot of pride running this place efficiently. I also appreciate Cody being so awesome! Thank you for making my time away from home a positive experience that I wouldn't get anywhere else.

Wow this place is so unacceptable it is surprising it is still in business. Our room smelled strongly of urine/mold/water damage, the bed sheets had dirt and a spider in them, the towels were stained, and the walls had holes in them. The horrible smell of the room made it hard to sleep. We booked the place in a rush and didn’t read all the reviews but saw that it was rated as a 3.5 star hotel with a “Good” average rating on the site we booked (super inaccurate). We had booked the place for 2 nights and wouldn’t have stayed at this place at all after seeing it. However, we arrived at 1:30am after a long drive and didn’t want to find another place to crash (although we did consider sleeping in our car instead of staying in the room). The service was great. No issues there. It was clean but the toilet was old, seat worn. That's an easy and cheap fix, there is no reason to let that be that way. The best toilet is like 200 bucks and a toilet seat covers like 30 bucks. No window curtains on the kitchenet which could allow for someone to see inside your room. Again another 30 or $40 fix. The blinds in the main room, one strip was broken on the end, again allowing for someone to see in. I mean you change clothes in that room, you need privacy. The worst part was the old wall heater. It worked but the damn thing knocked all night. It was snowing and cold so we needed to leave it on unless we wanted to freeze. It woke me and my wife up a bunch of times. Emerald Bay Lodge being labeled as a 4-star hotel is extremely misleading. Based on our stay, even a 1-star rating feels undeserved. The hotel is extremely old and poorly maintained. After about 10 minutes of showering, the hot water completely stopped not just in the shower, but even the sink had no hot water. This is a ski area where people come specifically because it’s cold, and having reliable hot water is the bare minimum. Somehow, this place charges almost $200 a night for that. Because there was no hot water, my boyfriend wasn’t even able to shower at all. The room was very dirty. There were spider webs on the ceiling, the floor was visibly filthy, and we even found someone else’s red sock left under a chair. The bed didn’t feel clean either. I loved staying here. Everything was clean and organized, but what really made the difference was the treatment from the staff: always smiling, respectful, and attentive to every detail. They made me feel at home.
