Amazing campground with access to beautiful trails and beach areas on Emerald Bay. (if you want to be closer to the beach, maybe pick sites #51 or higher). Rubicon trail is amazing and also offers access to a real special beach. Bear boxes are available at every site. Restrooms are super clean with running water and lights. Definitely will be coming back.
We loved everything about this campground. With all of the amenities this place offers, it really felt more like glamping. Hot showers, friendly staff, amazing views, wildlife, private beach and trails. Currently there's a momma bear and curious cub that's been hanging around the lower part of the campground. Not the place to camp if you can't keep your head on a swivel. Those bears I mentioned snuck up on us a couple times, although docile and just curious and looking for an easy snack (your hot dogs and marshmallows) it's not the kind of environment to be carless in.
This was an amazing place — peaceful night, silence, and… bears 😂 The location is beautiful, and the nature is just incredible. But there’s one thing: be alert — a bear really came to visit us! You definitely need to hide your food properly. Still, huge shoutout to the team working there — you guys are awesome! Super positive and very informative during the orientation. Keep it up🫶
Stayed at 36, close to the restroom and trail down to the beach. The beach has shade and it is possible to paddle board to Vikingsholm to avoid parking in the lot. You can also pay for day parking here with great views and a nice walk 2 miles down to the main area to avoid busy parking/traffic during peak times.
Absolutely loved this campground. Great amenities with clean bathrooms, hot showers and potable water. The campsites are nice. The bears do come to visit and they are not shy about testing if the bear locker is closed and sniffing around the tent. Rubicon trail down to the water had great views! Will be returning for sure.
