Elam Campground

I have been camping here for the past 50 years and I love this camp ground ! We recently camped there and I love how the forest service changed the way that the toilet paper is released from the bar ! I know , I know , but if you ever used the out houses during the time that the release bar was square , then you would totally appreciate not having to maneuver the toilet paper from around the square bar ! Thank you to the forest service for making the toilet paper delivery bar round and helping to get you out of the toilet much faster!

Small Campground alongside a creek and the highway. Pit toilets kind of primitive. No hiking trails. Great place to stop and spend the night or two and do a little fishing

This is a lovely area to camp in. We usually just stop in on the way to Eagle lake and take a dip and fish a little. There are restrooms at the day use area along the highway across the creek from the campground. Good place if you are trying to relax. Was here a few weeks before a massive wildfire happened nearby. I hope this area was not affected as it is absolutely gorgeous. My family loves stopping here and seeing deer creek is always beautiful. The fishing is pretty good because this section of the creek is stocked throughout the summer.

Great campsite, nice people, just a bit close to the road for unbroken sleep. We were there during the week and it was quiet, seemed like it was busier in the weekend. Vault toilets were pretty clean and pump water was tasty. No bear boxes though there was a warning sign, we had all food in the car and no problems. Nice view on the creek for dinner! And lots of cute chipmunks ready to steal your food when you turn your back. No mobile service from about an hour south of the campground till you get to Chester, the closest town with a store.

We have been camping here for years. It’s a nice place to camp right on the creek. So makes for some easy fishing for the kids and they love to fish here because it is always stocked. Then us adults can walk the creek and fish while watching the kids with us all catching fish. They learn pretty fast that walking the creek and moving around catches the bigger fish. So they learn fast how to really fish!
