Econo Lodge Waynesville

We were looking for a low price, pet friendly hotel to stay in the Lake Junaluska/Waynesville area for one night. This hotel was rated a little better than the others and included a mountain view so we went with this one. For the most part it delivered what we needed, but it was a little worn. We booked through a third party site since we had points to redeem, but were given a room at the far end that had a scuffed up door, no peephole unlike the others, a balcony sliding door that didn't lock (we grabbed a wooden board from outside to place in the track for safety), a television that required some effort to figure out and a bathroom with some water damage on the walls. The floors had been redone, the bed was comfortable, and the bedding was updated and clean. There was a sizeable fridge,

It was a beautiful location, especially on the 2nd floor with a balcony. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was decent, though there was no type of protein provided. Rooms were clean, although there were a couple of small, black curly hairs left in the bathroom--one was on the wall next to the toilet and the other was in the shower. Not sure if they were from previous occupants or from transfer cleaning.

The mountain view porches with the wooden rocking chairs were EVERYTHING! Our rooms were very clean and quaint. Would've lived secure and faster wi fi, but the views more than make up for it. The town us close but somehow it's really quiet. Definitely going back!

This is a motel style location. Doors on the outside. The drive up though short is a bit steep and curvy. It does have nice views of the mountains from the balcony that each room gets but it sits right above the interstate so you do hear road noise most of the night. This place has potential if the owners put some work into it like painting the doors, resurfacing the wood balconies, upgrading the beds (which have weird metal bases), and just a general spruce up and clean up.

I liked that it was clean and I had enough towels for my 2 night stay. The bed and pillows were fine. It was a little noisy from the highway but the heating unit air mostly drowned that out. I didn’t like that the advertised breakfast was very stingy with just one waffle maker plus coffee and no other food that I could see.
